TAPESTERY is woven by means of a vertical warp and horizontal weft. This hand-woven technique is quite symbolic reflecting heavenly, earthly, spiritual and corporal bodies. The weaver can work with the goblin motif found in these tapestries, adhering to the standard warp strands while taking artistic liberties in the weft strand.

  My southern European voyages imbedded a fascination for antiquity in my soul. It was there that I became familiar with Byzantine mosaics and paintings, and this inspired my first series of goblins named 'Looking at the Icons'. I gradually developed my own technique of weaving - the combination of tapestry and mosaic.

  TKAMALS - a unique combination of tapestry and painting - are my response to the spellbinding beauty of  ancient Rome. The subjects of this series are marble sculptures. On the fabric itself I depict the rays of light hitting the sculptures  and how they accentuate the outlines and highlights the texture of stone, sometimes shining, sometimes cracked and rough.

  I match colored fibers and while weaving them with warp, I unfold memories from the Eternal City. I crown my work by painting selected pieces of the fabric so that the entirely new texture emerges. My artistic life is a sensual oxymoron, because

I weave and paint sculptures.

  In my atelier I weave tapestries for museums, palaces, churches as well as for private residences. I design them on my own or develop the ideas of the comissioner.
